Dena has centered her law practice in Raleigh and Cary, North Carolina and has litigated cases throughout the state. While her practice has been primarily focused on all facets of insurance defense litigation, Dena has also represented businesses and individuals in contract disputes, with personal injury matters, with landlord-tenant issues, and has drafted, negotiated, and litigated non-competition agreements for employers and employees.

Dena has worked for a variety of both commercial and personal lines insurance carriers with claims involving professional liability and negligence, automobile negligence, premises liability, and construction defects. She has experience in trying cases as well as resolving them through alternative dispute forums. In 2010, she was named a Rising Star by North Carolina Super Lawyers.

She is licensed to practice law in both North and South Carolina, is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Wake County/Tenth Judicial District Bar, the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, and is licensed to practice in all federal district courts in North Carolina.

Dena was born and raised in Hertford, North Carolina. In 1997, she received a Bachelor of Arts in History cum laude from Meredith College, where she was an Honors Scholar and North Carolina Teaching Fellow. Following graduation, she worked as a high school teacher at East Wake High School. Dena graduated from Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 2001. While in law school, she was a class representative to the Student Bar Association and was a member of several trial teams that competed nationally. She was inducted into the National Order of Barristers upon her graduation.

In her free time, Dena enjoys spending time with her three daughters, reading, and stand-up paddle boarding.
